Our Superstar and All-Star picks have been winning all week, and hopefully tonight is no different. Remember, Superstar selections are the ones that our algorithm assigns a win probability of 70 percent or higher. All-Star picks have a win probability of 60 percent or better.
Tonight's Superstar Pick is the New York Yankees.
Superstar Pick 8/30
New York Yankees -166 vs. St. Louis Cardinals at 7:05 p.m. EDT 70% win probability
Marcus Stroman (9-6, 3.88, 1.380) vs. Eric Fedde (8-7, 3.31, 1.165)
The Cardinals just took a two straight from the Padres at home to keep their slim postseason hopes alive, while the Yankees managed to hold onto first place in the American League East by a game and a half over Baltimore despite dropping two of three in Washington. This game is important for both teams, so there shouldn't be any lineup shenanigans going on. New York does have a postseason berth pretty much locked up, but the division race is still up for grabs. St. Louis still is 6 games out of the final National League wildcard spot, so the Cardinals may be more desperate - but also may feel more pressure.
Fedde was a trade-deadline acquisition and has compiled a 4.23 ERA since joining the Redbirds. Stroman has posted an ERA of over 5.00 the past two months, but has been much better at home, posting an xFIP of 4.03 at Yankee Stadium. Stroman also has pitched very well recently, allowing just 4 earned runs in his last 16 innings. But it's the offense, especially from red-hot Juan Soto and Aaron Judge, that the Yankees are banking on to put this one in the bank for us. New York leads MLB in OPS vs. right-handed pitchers at .793, while St. Louis ranks 14th with a team OPS of .718 vs. righties. The Yankees average a full run per game more than the Cardinals, while allowing a half run fewer.
All-Star Selections for 8/30
Cleveland Guardians -162 vs. Pittsburgh Pirates
New York Mets -225 at Chicago White Sox
