It's Week 4 of the 2024 National Football League season, and the current season data paired with overall team performances are beginning to paint a clearer picture of this season's NFL hierarchy. Some early season injuries to key personnel have set a few teams back in terms of their performance and where they rank, and it still remains to be seen if surprising 3-0 teams such as Seattle. Minnesota and Pittsburgh can continue their rolls.
The Buffalo Bills never were expected to fall off too much, but they have far exceeded early expectations and face their stiffest test to date this week at Baltimore. The Ravens should be 2-1, and are a toenail away from possibly being 3-0, but alas they are 1-2. They looked dominant in a big win at Dallas last week, but that game should have been a blowout and got much too close for comfort. They are ranked higher than some might expect this week given their 1-2 record, but their inability to close games raises questions. The talent clearly is there for them to be a top-five team, however.
Meanwhile, the Kansas City Chiefs are 3-0 but could just as easily be 1-2. They long have been known for cruising along and just getting by before peaking in late in the season when it matters most. No one is questioning Kansas City's spot as an elite team, but the uneven performances and loss of running back Isiah Pacheco have allowed the Bills to sneak past them in the rankings.
A lot of voices in the media were jumping on the Tampa Bay and New Orleans bandwagons after both teams opened the season 2-0 despite everyone talking about how weak the NFC South was all offseason and how the Falcons could roll to 12, 13 or even 14 wins. Both the Bucs and Saints were brought back to Earth last week, and Atlanta is now 1-2. Tampa Bay was embarrassed at home by an 0-2 Denver team with a rookie quarterback, while the Saints suffered a heartbreaking defeat at home to an Eagles team that had suffered a similar fate the previous Monday.
Maybe all those NFC South teams are who we thought they were?
Without further delay, here are our StatLogic Sports Week 4 NFL Power Rankings. Our rankings take a combination of a team's general performance, what our proprietary algorithm thinks about this week's matchups, where the bookmakers have the teams ranked and how the betting market is responding to the teams. Injuries are factored in as well to help us paint a picture of where the teams rank RIGHT NOW, not where they project to be in the future.
